Our Production Process

  1. Rails are cut to the required length as specified by the customer.
  2. The rail is drilled and 'cold hold expanded'.
  3. Joints are assembled in our climate-controlled factory.
  4. Finally, the products are tested for electronic resistance and mechanical alignment strictly in accordance with customers' requirements.

Hird Rail Services manufactures 'shop-glued' joints according to the Quality Management Systems required by ISO 9000-2000. We have been granted Network Rail Certificate of Acceptance for the assembly of block joints (60E2 and 56E1 rails) and we are also an accredited supplier under the Link-Up/Achilles UK Rail Supplier Qualification Scheme.

We will actively seek and obtain all necessary Quality Approvals for all countries that we supply in the future.

Hird Rail Services operates a 'Total Traceability Scheme' which ensures that all component parts and processes used in the assembled joints are recorded for audit/quality purposes.

International transportation links from our Headquarters are excellent and we offer delivery methods to suit the clients' needs. Project Tracker - our web-based information system - enables our customers to have secure access to their own protected zone. Information available will be in accordance with the needs of each individual client but normally covers Work in Progress, Delivery Trends and Audit.
