Gary has over forty years in the rail industry. Starting his career in 1979 as an apprentice draughtsman for the switch and crossing manufacturing company Railway and General in Nottingham. Lengthy spells at Balfour Beatty and Portec Rail has seen a varied career develop through design, manufacture, engineering and installation into the commercial world as International Sales Manager and latterly as Commercial Director at a number of Railway focused companies. Gary has been Managing Director of Trough-Tec Systems since 2013, which is now an established solution provider for cable management systems. Now as Managing Director of Hird Rail Development Gary oversees the running of the business and provides technical support when required.
After starting his career in the rail sector assembling track equipment for a Yorkshire based firm, Adam spent the next seven years working through various product management and commercial roles for organisations involved in all aspects of the rail industry, ranging from depot equipment and rolling stock maintenance to infrastructure and track related products. Following a year living in Colorado, USA working for a US based rail company, Adam joined the HRD team in 2017 and works in the international customer relationship and product management team.
André is Hird Rail Development’s specialist track engineer. Counting organisation’s such as Dutch Railways, voestalpine WBN and Railpro as past employers, Andre has been at the leading edge of product development for more than 30 years. He has designed and developed a range of track and infrastructure life improvement solutions, some of which form part of HRD’s portfolio. Joining the team at the beginning of 2019, Andre is based in the Netherlands where he acts as a product liaison with HRD’s partners and provides engineering support to the product managers.
A seasoned railwayman who started his career with British Rail working as part of the switch and crossing pre -fabrication team based at Crofton Depot in 1982. Wayne worked through various roles from Track Inspector and Infrastructure Team Leader responsible for the Yorkshire & Humberside area, eventually spending 12 years working for DB Schenker as their Track Maintenance Manager overseeing all renewals and heavy maintenance of their permanent way infrastructure throughout the UK. Joining the Hird Rail Development team in 2017 as Production Manager, Wayne looks over the manufacturing process and works closely with Jonathan in maintaining our ISO9001:2015 accreditation.
After being employed as a bookmaker and for a short time working for Her Majesty’s Prison Service in Custodial Care. Jonathan joined Hird Rail Services in 2016 where he was responsible for quality assurance and the successful operation of the insulated joint manufacturing plant, ensuring traceability for all component parts. In 2018 Jonathan moved to Hird Rail Development and now works with Wayne in Production supervision and Quality Control. Jonathan is trained in ISO9001:2015 as a certified Internal Auditor ensuring the organisation operates to the accredited standard.
Following the completion of his degree in Business and Management at Hull University. Peter worked in an operations role for a major UK retailer before joining the Hird Rail Development team in February 2020.
Peter is an integral part of the inside sales and customer liaison team setting the high standard for customer service within the company. After completing courses on customs, import and export, Peter also helps oversee the movement of raw materials and goods incoming from suppliers. With his organizational skills ensuring our global network of customers and partners receive their orders on time, in full.
